Specification comparison of polyester embroidery thread and rayon embroidery thread
The person that had used embroider line knows, normally, the specification of man-made silk embroider line is 120D/2, and the specification of dacron embroider line some manufacturer mark is 108D/2, some manufacturer mark is 120D/2, but overall speaking, the method that both signs is correct, the Angle that understands only is different just.
Understand the different specifications of polyester embroidery thread and rayon embroidery thread from the dyeing process of embroidery thread. Polyester embroidery thread is dyed with high temperature and pressure. After high temperature and pressure, polyester yarns shrink to a certain extent. Therefore, after dyeing, the yarns of 108D polyester yarns are the same with the yarns of 120D rayon yarns. The dyeing of rayon embroidery thread is under normal temperature and pressure. The shrinkage of rayon is very small and negligible.
Therefore, 108D/2 polyester embroidery thread and 120D/2 rayon embroidery thread are of the same thickness, which is why 108D polyester yarns must be chosen when making polyester embroidery thread. Otherwise, the yarns of polyester embroidery thread will be different from those of rayon embroidery thread. That is to say, 108D/2 polyester embroidery thread refers to a polyester silk with a specification of 108D, and the final embroidery thread is still 120D.
So when the embroidery thread manufacturer tells you that their polyester embroidery thread's specification is 108D/2, you can safely use it as 120D/2 embroidery thread. On the contrary, if the embroidery thread manufacturer tells you that the specification of their polyester silk is 120D, you should be careful, because after dyeing, the embroidery thread will become thicker than 120D.
